Srinagar, Oct 17 (KNO): The land of Kashmir, a prominent tourist place, has often faced challenges in transportation. However, a solution has now emerged with Imran Bakshi a local entrepreneur from Karan Nagar Srinagar introducing his brainchild, “KOOL KARS,” a tourist transport service across Jammu and Kashmir, offering visitors a safer and more efficient way to explore the region’s beauty. According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), KOOL KARS is the first private operator in Kashmir to incorporate electric and hybrid vehicles into its fleet—an eco-friendly move aimed at preserving the region’s fragile ecosystem. This push for sustainability is part of a broader effort to modernize transport options while reducing the environmental impact of tourism in the valley. KOOL KARS started small but quickly expanded its fleet after recognizing that many tourists found it difficult to navigate the region’s mountainous terrain and remote areas due to unreliable and outdated transport options. “We wanted tourists to feel welcome and safe while exploring the region,” said Imran Bakshi while speaking to KNO. “Our drivers act as guides as much as chauffeurs," he added. One of the early initiatives was to introduce GPS-enabled vehicles, allowing tourists to travel safely with access to real-time tracking and route information. He also emphasized driver training, ensuring that KOOL KARS’ drivers not only mastered the technical skills required for driving in tough terrain but also offered excellent customer service and local knowledge. “We are committed to reducing our environmental impact,” said Imran, adding that their electric vehicles will offer the same comfort and reliability as the current fleet but with a much smaller carbon footprint. Sharing future plans, Imran said, “Kashmir is just the beginning. Our model can be replicated in other mountainous regions, offering tourists the chance to explore remote areas while minimizing their environmental impact,” he said—(KNO)
